Privacy Policy

Paper Trader is a trading simulator. Every trade in it is made with virtual money; the app cannot place a real order. This policy says what the app does with your information, and what it does not.

What stays on your device

These never leave your phone:

• Your virtual trading account: cash balance, paper positions, orders and trade history.
• Your preferences: watchlists, chart drawings, price alerts, strategies and theme.
• If you connect a broker: the access token your broker issues. It is written to the Android keystore, is used only to fetch your own market data from your own broker, and is never uploaded to us or to anyone else. Disconnecting removes it.

What leaves your device

If you sign in with Google — required only to link a broker for live prices; practice mode works fully without an account — the following is stored in Google Cloud Firestore so that it can be restored on a new phone:

We ask Google for your name and email address and nothing else. We use the email to reach you about the app itself: an update that matters, or the date the free period ends. We do not sell it, share it, or pass it to anyone.

• Your name and email address from your Google account, and your Firebase user ID.
• Your paper trading data: trade history, positions, watchlists, alerts, strategies, chart drawings and risk settings.

A count of installs. Once a day, whether or not you sign in, the app writes a random identifier it generated on this device, the date it first ran, the date it last ran, and the app version. That is the whole record. It is never joined to your account, your email, your broker, your trades or your location; it is not your advertising ID; and it exists so we know how many people use the app. You can switch it off in Settings.

What you type into the AI strategy builder. If you add your own Google Gemini key and ask the app to turn a sentence into a rule, that sentence is sent to Google’s Gemini API along with a description of what this app is able to run. It goes with YOUR key, to your own Google AI account, and it does not pass through us. Nothing is sent unless you ask for it, and the feature does nothing at all without a key you supplied.

Crash reports are sent to Google Firebase Crashlytics whether or not you sign in. These contain the error, the stack trace, and technical details about the device and app version. They do not contain your broker token or your trading data.

There is nothing to pay for. The app is free and carries no payment path at all — no in-app purchases, no subscription, no trial that runs out. So there is no card, no UPI ID and no bank detail for anybody to see, ours or Google’s. If that ever changes, this page changes first.

Data is stored in Google's asia-south1 (Mumbai) region.

Who we share it with

Nobody. We do not sell, rent or trade your information, and we run no advertising or profiling SDKs. Google acts as our processor for sign-in, backup and crash reporting; their terms govern that processing.

What the app never does

• It never asks for or receives your broker password, PIN or 2FA code. Broker login happens on your broker's own page.
• It never places, modifies or cancels a real order. It has no permission to, and never requests one.
• It never uploads your broker access token.

Network connections

• Your broker's official API (HTTPS/WSS) to fetch market data — prices, charts and option chains — using the credentials you provided.
• Google Firebase for sign-in, backup and crash reporting, as above.
• Google’s Gemini API, only if you have added your own key, and only when you ask the app to build a rule from a sentence.
• Our own site on GitHub Pages, to check for an app update and to fetch announcements and help videos. Plain file requests that carry nothing about you.

With no broker connected, the app runs on a built-in simulated price feed and makes no market-data requests at all.

Permissions

• Internet — to fetch market data.
• Notifications (optional) — price alerts and order fills. Asked for only when you create your first alert.
• Biometric / device credential (optional) — only to unlock the app if you turn on App lock. Biometric data never leaves your device and is handled by Android.

Deleting your data

• Reset account in the app clears your virtual trading data.
• Disconnect removes the saved broker token.
• Delete account in the Account screen deletes your cloud backup and your sign-in with us.
• Uninstalling the app, or clearing its storage in Android settings, removes everything held on the device. It does not remove a cloud backup — use "Delete account" for that.
• Crash reports already sent to Crashlytics are retained by Google on their own schedule and cannot be deleted individually.

You can also email pradeep@papertraders.in to request deletion.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13.

Paper Trader is a simulator. It does not provide investment advice or recommendations, and it is not a SEBI-registered intermediary, broker or research analyst. Simulated results do not guarantee real market results. Trading in securities involves risk.

Market data, when you connect a broker, is delivered by that broker to you under your own agreement with them. We neither licence nor redistribute exchange data.

Material changes to this policy will be published here with a new "last updated" date.
